The amount of amperage depends on a number of factors including how much wire you have in the circuit and the input voltage. Also, how you wire the LED strip in terms of how many diodes are lit will impact amperage. In a typical tail turn brake configuration, the only time all three diodes are lit at the same time is if you have your running lights on AND the brake is being applied. So there are variables here which impact the draw. Assuming 12.5vdc input power, with all three diodes lit will draw approximately .0108 amps per tri-chip LED. The 42" heavy duty LED strip has 60 tri-chip LEDs so 60 x .0108 = .648 amps. If you click on the DETAILED SPECS link on the product page you'll find this information under the 'AMPERAGE' heading.
