Not entirely sure what you mean by 'lightning effect'. If you're referring to making the lights flash or strobe, that functionality has nothing to do with the lights themselves but rather the LED controller you use. Adding an LED controller to the system will allow you to make the lights flash and strobe (among other things). The color the lights display would be determined by the color of the LEDs you use. For this particular light kit, an LED controller is not included by default. If you want to be able to strobe/flash the lights, you would need to add the ON/OFF/DIMMING LED controller offered as an option. The CONFIGURATION OPTIONS tab has more detail.
