W900 is the truck series. Many people just list them as that and leave the descriptor out.
W900L stands for LONG hood however the door of the truck will still be stamped W900B. Every W900L is stamped W900B. It has nothing to do with the hood. It's the cab that is the reason for the B. To distinguish a W900L from what is commonly referred to as a W900B simply look at the fenders, grill and especially the space between the fender and the step box. W900L's will have a 130" BBC (Bumper to Back of Cab) measurement. The W900B has 190". The W900B has a wider grille than the W900L. The W900B hood is nearly flat whereas the W900L has some slant to it with the Aerocab models. Non-Aerocab models will appear flat but will look longer than the Aerocab hoods as the hood itself is a little longer where it meets the cowl.
The reason the short hood W900 gets called the W900B and confuses a lot of people goes back to the early days. Kenworth had the W900 (simply known as the W900a now) which had the round headlights and smaller cab. In the 1980's they introduced the W900B model which had a new, shorter hood and most of all a new cab that is still in use today. However, with that design change Kenworth no longer had a long hood truck while Peterbilt did. Kenworth saw the demand so in the 1990's KW introduced the W900L which had the longer hood.
Our UNDER-GLOW, UNDER-CAB and BREATHER LED light kits will fit the W900A, W900B and W900L. The grill light kit however will only fit the W900L due to the hood design differences noted above.
