It's not the number of segments that matter. It's the total number of LEDs on those segments and the amperage they collectively pull through that feeder cable that matters. Generally speaking, you never want to put more than 900 leds on a single 18awg feeder cable run. That's the upper limit and in some cases, depending on the feeder cable run lengths coupled with the type of LEDs (e.g. RGB vs RGBA vs RGBW vs Single Colror White) 600 LEDs is the limit. That said, we strongly suggest following the detailed installation diagram instructions we provide when designing your wiring layout to avoid over-loading any one single feeder cable run. Our installation instructions are quite detailed in that regard. If you click on the INSTALL tab on this product page and scroll down you'll see the dual zone wiring example we are referring to (we offer other diagrams there too for other types of installations). A screen shot of that diagram is attached here as well. You can also download all of the installation documentation for this product directly from the product page as well. That PDF documentation includes these same diagrams. Feel free to call our tech support team too at 800.847.1359 M-F, 9-5 eastern.
